I had to do my long run today because my weekend was filled with military and happenings. Today was all about breaking PR’s and I didn’t even try. I use Nike running app on my iPhone, and it tracks everything.

These are not my fastest ever, but they are for this training season, so they stand to be broken. As I was finishing my 8 mile long run today, (it was actually 7.39…puppy issues) I was thinking what did I eat yesterday that made me so awesome today. I mean I am awesome everyday, but today I was double awesome.

Croissant, Bagel, Salad, lasagna  ravioli  cheesecake, and a cream puff…. Wow, yeah, I ate wonderful yesterday! It had to have been the cream puff and the cheesecake!

Not sure what it was but no cramping, not short of breath, no joint pain, and I ran an average 9:06 mile for almost 8 miles. I guess it just boils down to an amazing running day!! I am sure the wonderful sunshine helped too!!! I just know I need to bring my SIL and my Mom in Law with me when I run races so they can cook.

IMG_0488[1] I do not think Sasha was thrilled I made her stop to take a picture during our run. She broke her PR too today!!! She ran 6.78 miles…Yay Sasha!!! She is sleeping now  🙂 Sonny on the other hand was way to excited about all the squirrels. We turned around .85 miles into his leg of the run. His little sister has him beat on  mileage!

Give a girl the right bra and she can rule the world…

…and it is so true. The right shoes always help too! In the past I have just picked up sports bras at T.J.Maxx and Marshall’s for super cheap. They were just the normal ordinary Champion. My mom told me about this store called Title Nine in Evanston, IL. I just thought, I am not spending $75 on a running bra. Then, when I was out in Colorado with my sister in law at a water park, this lady had on a bathing suit I loved…Where did she get it? Title Nine of course. So a couple weeks ago I decided I would not worry about the price and order a couple sports bras. They were expensive, almost as expensive as my running shoes, but worth every penny. They passed the pre-run bounce test with flying colors, so I was curious what the run would be like. WOW… Title Nine you rock!!!! What a fantastic way to start a marathon training season! And the best part… ATS commented: “There are somethings you can not put a price on to protect.” Bahahahha… thanks babe!

Since I decided I was flipping my running and rest days, today was the first day of my training for the upcoming year. I started short, I only did 3 miles this morning, but it was 3 quality miles (in my new bra). I was reminded of the beauty and the reasoning of my I live where I do…No puppies with me today though, there were way too many deer, turkeys and squirrels out and about. It would have been a pulling run. So I enjoyed the sun and mother nature alone…and I loved it!!! Then I came home and took a two hour nap… I loved that too!!!

We had Polish food from the freezer for dinner. So because I really didn’t cook, I had to make something, So I made a Chocolate Covered Raspberry. 

Take one part Young’s Double Chocolate Stout and one part Framboise.

A Sunrise Dune Run Fritatta

I woke up thinking that it was in the 40’s this morning…I was way wrong…31 degrees-that was it. I dragged Sasha out of bed….she is completely not a morning dog, but as soon as she saw the running shoes and the leash…game on! So we ran and ran and then ran up the dunes. I thought since we had so much rain lately, the sand would be wet and it would be so easy to run up them….WRONG. Sand dries really fast!!! I felt the burn!!!  So 2.5 miles and 2 runs up the dune and 2 runs down…I was dying…Sasha was pulling to keep going… How much more beautiful could a sunrise be?

We ran on the beach for a distance and Sasha went for a swim, it was still  in the 30’s! We ran back home admiring the leaves and hoping that little miss polar bear club would dry off before I walked in the house. I walked in the door to find ATS in the kitchen, towel over his shoulder making this…It was the best post run breakfast ever!!!

Red pepper and Mushroom Fritatta- Servings:4

1/2c chopped shitake mushrooms

1 bunch of green onions

1 medium shallot

1 clove garlic

2 medium piquillo peppers (they are a little spicy)

10 eggs separated

1/2 sour cream

1/2c aged provolone

1. Saute’ the vegetables in olive oil and a little sea salt.

2. Separate the eggs… the final mixture needs to have 5 whole eggs and 5 egg whites.

3 Add the sour cream to the egg mixture.

4. In a cast iron skillet, warm a little olive oil over medium heat.

5. Pour the egg mixture into cast iron skillet and then add the sauteed vegetables, then add the cheese on top.

6. Do not stir the eggs but let them cook for 5-10 minutes or until the eggs start to solidify.

7. Place the skillet in the oven under the Broiler, set on High.

8. Be sure to watch the skillet it will cook fast from this point and will burn very easy.

9. Once the fritatta starts to expand and brown remove from oven, check for done-ness, and enjoy!!!
